Steak.

Last night several friends came over for a bit of a barbecue. The weather stank, so we stayed inside, chatting and laughing, and breaking out the N64 for a bit towards the end. (Even if the weather blows, you can still BBQ... right?)

It was kind of a meat and potatoes meal; for dessert we had pie and leftover wedding cake from this weekend. My friend Lindsey brought over some awesome gazpacho-style soup as an appetizer, but the meal was pretty overwhelmingly meat and potato salad.

Not that anyone complained.

I did try out a steak marinade recipe that I got from a neighbor, and was pretty darn pleased with how it turned out, considering how simple it was. It's got a nice asian feel to it, thanks to the fish and soy sauces, but it's not overpowering.

Steak Marinade
(makes enough for one good sized steak)

2 minced garlic cloves
1 finely chopped shallot
5 tsp brown sugar
4 tsp vegetable oil
1 Tbsp fish sauce
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1/4 tsp pepper
